The History of Islam

A new service introduced by Harf using the latest electronic publishing technologies in order to get the Muslim user informed of the Islamic history in a thousand year. The program provides display, search and indexing features. The user can review the historical events that took place at a given scope of time and place throughout the Muslim world.  

• The program has been designed with Web CD and Personal Web Server technologies, which enable the user to use web sites available on CDs in the same way he uses Desktop applications, with all services of display, search and indexing.

• The material is prepared from the books Al-Bidayah wa Al-Nihayah (The Beginning and the End) by Ibn Kathir and Ahdath Al-Tarikh Al-Islami Bi Tartib Al-Sinin (The Events of the Islamic History in Chronological Order) by `Abd Al-Salam Al-Tirmanini.

• The program presents a full display of the events of the Islamic history in a thousand year, beginning from the year 1 until 1000 A.H. The program includes the historical events, the military events and the mortality.

• The user can show a chronological order of all the historical events witnessed by the Muslim Ummah, displaying the events of each year separately.

• The program provides the ability to search for main topics, which are linked to many other subtopics that cover all the events of the Islamic history in a thousand year.

• The advanced textual search, based on Harf's technologies in the field of computational linguistics, includes morphological search, which enables search for words or phrases on various levels. The user can search for a word or a phrase on root level, or with affixes; or rather search for exact matches for search words or phrases.  

The program includes two kinds of indexes:

• General indexes: which include indexes of Qur'anic verses, Hadiths, poetic verses, biographical names, etc.

• Special indexes: which include indexes of military events, revolutions, natural disasters, major battles and conquests, etc.

• The text material of the program is supported with a library of illustrative maps accompanied by audio commentary.

• There is ample information and images of famous mosques spread throughout the Muslim world with accompanying audio commentary.

• Qur'anic verses are served with reference information and linked to the related web page on www.al-islam.com, which provides more elaborate Qur'anic services.

• The program provides comprehensive biographies of the outstanding personalities mentioned in the program.

The program is legally approved by Al-Azhar

The program runs under Windows 95, 98 and 2000.

برنامج تقدمه حرف بأحدث تقنيات النشر الإلكتروني لتضع بين يدي المستخدم أحداث التاريخ الإسلامي خلال ألف عام مع خدمات العرض والبحث والفهرسة، بحيث يستطيع المستخدم استعراض الأحداث التي ارتبطت بفترة زمنية محددة وبمكان ما على خريطة العالم الإسلامي.
 
تضم المادة العلمية للبرنامج كتاب البداية والنهاية لابن كثير بالإضافة إلى كتاب أحداث التاريخ الإسلامي بترتيب السنين للدكتور عبد السلام الترمانيني.

يقدم البرنامج عرضا كاملا لأحداث التاريخ الإسلامي في ألف عام بدءا من سنة (1) وانتهاء بسنة (1000) هجرية.

يشتمل البرنامج على:
- عرض للأحداث التاريخية والوقائع العسكرية والوفيات.
- ترتيب زمني لكافة الأحداث التاريخية التي مرت بها الأمة الإسلامية يتيح للمستخدم إمكانية عرض الأحداث التاريخية لكل سنة هجرية.
- البحث بدلالة أحد الموضوعات الرئيسية التي تم الربط بينها وبين العديد من الموضوعات الفرعية التي تغطي كافة الموضوعات والأحداث التي مرت بالأمة الإسلامية على مدار ألف عام.  
- البحث النصي بإمكانات متقدمة تعتمد على تقنيات حرف في مجال اللغويات الحاسوبية، من بينها تقنية التحليل الصرفي للكلمة أو الجملة بمستويات متعددة، حيث يستطيع المستخدم البحث عن الكلمة/الجملة على مستوى الجذر اللغوي أو باللواصق أو بحثا مطابقا لتأتي نتيجة البحث متضمنة الموضوعات أو المسائل التي تتعلق بكلمة/جملة البحث.
